ClariMAG is a highly optimized magnesium supplement that could benefit almost everyone. The reason for this is that most people are deficient in magnesium. Not all magnesium supplements are created equal though, and a lot of them have paltry bioavailability. This is a hurdle we overcame in ClariMAG, whilst also emphasizing the cognitive benefits of magnesium!
Cognitively, magnesium can help enhance mood, induce a relaxed mind set and above all, help improve mental clarity. With ClariMAG we dialed up the mental clarity effects by carefully adding synergistic vitamins, herbs and endogenous compounds! The end result is a very natural feeling, a sense of mental clarity, and an improved mood, all whilst you are improving your magnesium status!
ClariMAG is a cutting edge magnesium formulation, using two of the best forms of magnesium currently on the market. The first of which is sucrosomial magnesium, which is a very novel and highly bioavailable magnesium composition. It is made by loading magnesium oxide into specialized sucrose ester spheres (somewhat similar to liposomes), which then allows the magnesium to easily absorb and enter into cells. In addition to this, we also added magnesium glycinate, which is a magnesium chelate created with the amino acid glycine. Glycine itself does a great job of quieting the mind, allowing for the mental clarity effects of magnesium to become more pronounced. In addition to this, chelating magnesium with glycine allows for very high bioavailability, making this one of the most popular and effective magnesium supplements on the market!
In addition to the magnesium blend, we also added vitamin C. Vitamin C when metabolized turns into threonic acid. Threonic acid by itself enhances brain magnesium content which will further help dial in the magnesium derived mental clarity. Another vitamin we added is vitamin D3. Vitamin D and magnesium interact a lot in the body, and it appears that vitamin D can actually help enhance magnesium absorption. In addition to this, it has been shown that a combination of magnesium and vitamin D3 can have beneficial effects on focus and attention, which further helps dial in the mental clarity effects.
We also added in agmatine, which is an endogenous compound that just like magnesium functions as an NMDA antagonist. We have found over the years that weak NMDA antagonism can help dial in mental clarity, and we believe this is one of the mechanisms by which magnesium increases mental clarity. When we further explored this idea and added another NMDA antagonist (agmatine) on top, the mental clarity effects become more pronounced. In addition to this, agmatine can also help enhance cerebral blood flow which is beneficial for mental clarity. We also added in yet another mild NMDA antagonist, Polygala tenuifolia. We went with an especially low dose for Polygala tenuifolia as we did not want much of its character in the effects profile of ClariMAG. However, we found that low doses of agmatine + polygala with higher doses of magnesium, did a much better job of promoting mental clarity without stealing the thunder from magnesium which is the real start of the show here!
When we were designing our own ideal magnesium formulation, we had a few design goals in mind. First and foremost, it had to achieve one simple goal, enhancing magnesium status. Over the years, we have become intimately familiar with the best strategies for raising magnesium levels, so this was an easy formulation challenge to solve.
Pure elemental magnesium is a metal, so you can’t just take some pure elemental magnesium and have it absorb properly. The easiest way to solve this problem is to oxidize magnesium which then yields magnesium oxide. Magnesium oxide can indeed absorb, however, the absorption rate is very low and is self limiting. Magnesium oxide modulates pH levels in the intestines, which can slow its absorption. Magnesium glycinate bypasses this problem, because glycine acts as a very good pH buffer. Sucrosomial magnesium also bypasses this issue, because the magnesium is encased in a sucrose ester shell and in addition to this, specifically helps shuttle magnesium into cells. With this in mind, we decided that a combination of both magnesium glycinate and sucrosomial magnesium would be the best way to increase magnesium levels in the body and brain!
Next up, we wanted to enhance the mental clarity effects of magnesium, which definitely was a challenge! We wanted just pure mental clarity without detracting from the effects of magnesium. One approach we took was looking at exactly how magnesium produces mental clarity. What we discovered is that the mild NMDA antagonism effect of magnesium was responsible for the mental clarity effects. We then wondered what would happen if we beefed up this NMDA antagonist effect a little bit. We used agmatine and polygala tenuifolia for this reason. Both of these also have mild NMDA antagonist effects, and the combination of agmatine and polygala with magnesium, had a synergistic effect on mental clarity while not coloring the effects much at all. When we added in vitamin D3, this effect locked in even more, which looking at the research of vitamin D3 and attention, makes perfect sense!
In addition to enhancing your magnesium levels and dialing in mental clarity, having more magnesium in your system is a great thing. Magnesium plays a role in many bodily functions, so optimizing magnesium status is fantastic for general health. In addition to this, magnesium is also very important for muscles, and will allow your muscles to relax more. This may even help ease jaw tension a little bit for example. All in all, with how common magnesium deficiencies are, taking a magnesium supplement is pretty much always a good idea, making ClariMAG a very useful product!
